Shiro Cosmetics - Smashing

Hello all! And welcome to Reveries of a Wallflower, just one of the places where I come to blurt out the random musings that are floating around in my mind with nowhere in particular to go. For my first post I have a review of Shiro Cosmetic's Intertubes in Smashing. This is my first time photographing a lip swatch, so be kind! I'm sure I'll improve over time, practice makes perfect!

Description from the website: BLARGH. Pinky-purpley-smashingness, fit for mermaids and dugongs.

My thoughts: I love that this Intertubes is inspired by Nigel Thornberry, it makes me giggle just looking at the tube. Looking at other swatches of this online, I was expecting Smashing to be much lighter, more of a dusty rose with a purple undertone (similar to Australis Velourlips in Lun-dun but glossy instead of matte). However, I believe that my lips are naturally pretty pigmented (I'll take a shot of my bare lips in the very near future) which meant that Smashing has pulled much darker on me. It's definitely pinky-purpley-smashingness as described, just not as light as I was expecting given other swatches I'd seen. It's still a lovely colour and one that I'm sure will get more wear when the cooler months reach us. There's even a little hidden micro-sparkle in there which can just be seen in my photo of the tube above.

Application: Smooth. Can be applied in a sheer coat, although I found this to be a little uneven. Builds up to a creamy opaque colour in 2 applications (shown in my swatch). The slight unevenness showing in my swatch wasn't evident in real life.

Packaging: I've read that some people didn't like the oval shape of the Intertubes, however I really like it! I found it much easier to apply the colour to my cupid's bow than with normal round tubes due to the narrower ends. And as an added bonus, it doesn't roll away every time you put it down!

Wear time: I wore this for 3 or 4 hours (no eating or drinking). After about 2 hours it faded down to a lovely soft mauve colour and remained even.

Moisturising: Yes.

Staining: None.

Bleeding: Very minimal, only about 1mm in the centre of my lower lip. This only occurred after a couple of hours.

Scent: None. Just a slight 'lipsticky' smell, but it's extremely subtle.

Availability: Unfortunately Shiro discontinued their Intertubes range mid-2014, however some stockists do still have some colours remaining. I bought mine from Beauty Bohemia.

Price: $7 AUD (from Beauty Bohemia).

Would I recommend it: Yes.

Thanks for reading!
xx Anthea
