Hello all! Today I thought I would continue on from my last post with another Shiro Cosmetics review, this time of one of their lip glosses. This is Nic Cage Doing the Charleston in a Bustling Speakeasy (which will now just be known as NCDTCIABS), part of the Cages Through The Ages line up honouring Nicolas Cage.
To start, here's a picture of my bare lips for comparison. As I mentioned in my previous post, I believe that my lips are naturally pretty pigmented which often leads to lip products looking darker on me than they appear in most swatches available online. I'm hoping that my swatches will help other pigmented ladies out there! In this picture my lips look like they're slightly stained, trust me, they're not!
And the product:
Description from the website: Won't you Cageston with me?
And while the band is playing that
Nicolas Cage, around we will rage
Together we'll show them
How the Cageston is done
We'll Surprise everyone!
Moderately opaque fuschia-mulberry. Will leave behind a faint stain. Flavoured like bubbly champagne!
My thoughts: This was a little bit hit and miss for me. Don't get me wrong, it's an absolutely gorgeous colour, just not quite what I was after. I'll be gifting it to a friend who vampier colours work well on, as while it suited me it's just not my personal style. I was hoping for something just a little bit redder, and this pulled slightly browner on me than I had hoped (there's that damn pigmentation to blame!) For me, this was a very deep mulberry, but there was no fuschia tone to be seen as the website description stated. I can't quite pick the scent either. I would actually call it more of a chocolate scent rather than champagne, but not in a good chocolatey way. It's not offensive, just not quite 'real' enough.
Application: Smooth. I found application was most successful with 2 coats (as shown in my photo). Sometimes I struggle to get an even line around my lip's edge with the doe-foot applicators, but had no issues with the formula of this one.
Packaging: 15ml tube with doe-foot applicator as typical of all Shiro glosses. No issues here! Packaging also features a darling illustration of Nic Cage doing the Charleston in Flapper attire. Go Nic!
Wear time: I wore this for 2 hours before eating. It came off while eating, but left a nice stain.
Moisturising: Yes.
Staining: Purple toned cranberry.
Bleeding: Essentially non-existent, what you can see in my photo wasn't evident in real life.
Scent: Champagne. Although as I mentioned to my nose it seemed more chocolatey.
Availability: Available directly from Shiro as well as select stockists. I purchased mine from Femme Fatale Cosmetics.
Price: $8 USD (from Shiro). $10.45 AUD (from Femme Fatale Cosmetics).
Would I recommend it: Yes. It's a gorgeous colour, just not quite right for my personal style.
Thanks for reading!
xx Anthea
I really do like this colour, I'll have to give it a shot and see if it suits me. I just tend to dislike gloss because of the higher chance of it rubbing off unevenly during wear time :(
ReplyDeleteHaha well give it back if you don't like it :p I found it wore down evenly though, hopefully the wear is as good on you.
