Animal Kingdom - Dragonfly
Hello all! Today I have the first of what I expect will be many posts sharing my adventures in the world of adult colouring. Adult colouring is becoming increasingly popular, and I'm really enjoying it as a hobby. It's great to be able to shut off from the world and just play with different colour combinations. I've never been terribly good at drawing, so it's fun to be able to do something arty without the pressure of needing to draw something from scratch. Today's colouring is a dragonfly design from Millie Marotta's Animal Kingdom.
Millie Marotta's Animal Kingdom: a colouring book adventure
Availability: Leading book and art stores. I bought mine from Dymocks in Australia, however I get most of my books from Book Depository who I highly recommend as their prices are usually pretty competitive.
Price: $20.37 AUD (from Book Depository).
My thoughts: This is my second adult colouring book, and it's one that I think I'm really going to enjoy. There is a nice distribution of whole-page designs and designs like this Dragonfly one which are just a single figure on the page. Some of the designs are quite intricate, so you might need a bit of patience and time to make your way through them. The paper is lovely and thick, pens don't bleed on it and they don't show through on the other side. Larger tipped pens do show stroke lines rather easily though, whereas they seem to even out and become less obvious in the other book I own.
Tools: For this particular design I used a combination of Staedtler Triplus pens, Faber Castell Connector pens, Milan felt pens (in fine and conic tips), and a metallic silver gel pen from Smiggle.
Would I recommend it: Yes.
Thanks for reading!
xx Anthea
